Gracing the event was Bishop of the Methodist Church in Malaysia, Reverend Dr T. Jeyakumar, who was accompanied by Dr Chua Ping Yong, Chief Executive Officer, and Reverend Herbert D. John, Chaplain at MCKL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mckl.edu.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/20221202_123917-1024x419.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6747\" width=\"791\" height=\"323\"\/><figcaption>MCKL&#8217;s Christmas Rally began by singing Christmas songs led by a student group<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In welcoming the guests, a student group led the audience with three songs, No\u00ebl No\u00ebl, Joy to the World and O Come All Ye Faithful. Reverend Jeyakumar took to the stage to give a sermon reflecting the Gospel of Luke, \u201cBut the angel said to them, \u2018Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people,\u2019\u201d Luke 2:10. Reverend Jeyakumar then explored the true meaning of the word \u2018joy\u2019 versus \u2018happiness\u2019, where the key differentiation is that while happiness is highly dependable on external circumstances or events, joy is a state of being. It is an inward condition of the heart, a gift from God, and a richer and deeper experience than happiness.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mckl.edu.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/IMG_8808-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6748\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\"\/><figcaption>Reverend Dr T. Jeyakumar, Bishop of the Methodist Church Malaysia giving a sermon on the true meaning of Joy at the MCKL Christmas Rally<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The word \u2018joy\u2019 is used 20 times in the Gospel of Luke, where Reverend Jeyakumar concluded that it is when one comes to know God, it is inevitable that they will acquire a sense of hope to receive peace, pardon, prosperity of the soul, and in turn, have joy. All this relates to what the angels said to the shepherds.
