The Champion in Hong Kong, Tan Eu Wen!


The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)’s Entrepreneurship Centre is the home to the record-breaking hackUST 2023. It is an annual hackaton that was first initiated in 2014 and aims to cultivate student’s innovation and entrepreneurship through providing a platform for both technical and non-technical students with like-minded interest to tackle problems with creative ideas and solutions. The hackUST is more than a platform for the students to tackle problems but a platform with a pool of talents with an entrepreneurial mindset who are potential candidates sought after by organizations that are looking for new recruits and creative solutions adaptable for their operations. It is also one of the most sought-after hackathons by university students around the world. 

MCKL’s very own Tan Eu Wen won the HackUST 2023 award – Web 3.0 Creative Application Awards. Tan Eu Wen, the Diploma in Information Technology student joined HackUST 2023 with the interest to learn and learn more about Web3. “In this Hackathon, I was hoping to tackle the current issues in Web3 and the research theories that can be implemented in to the Web3 environment. “The theories that we came up with during the competition as well as the prize we won “hackUST Web3.0 Creative Application Awards” while working on the topic “Universal Anonymously Membership is what I considered my greatest achievement.  

Tan is currently undergoing his internship at BASF under the Supply Chain division. Upon graduating his diploma in MCKL, Tan is looking forward to further his education at UNiSA, undertaking Degree in Information Technology, majoring in Cybersecurity.
