14 February 2026 | Fermat Math Contest 2026

• The paper has 25 multiple-choice questions in total, which is split into 3 parts:
  • PART A: 10 questions where the answer is A, B, C, D or E (Each correct answer is given 5 marks) 
  • PART B: 10 questions where the answer is A, B, C, D or E (Each correct answer is given 6 marks) 
  • PART C: 5 questions where the answer is an integer between 0 and 99 (Each correct answer is given 8 marks) 
• The total mark is 150. 
• There is no penalty for incorrect answer 
• Unanswered questions will be given 2 marks for up to a maximum of 10 unanswered questions. 
• The total duration of the paper is 60 minutes. 
• Items to be brought in by participants:
  • Pens
  • Pencils 
  • Eraser 
  • Ruler
  • Compass 
  • Non-Programmable Calculator 

(Blank paper will be provided during the exam for rough work)

• Participants answer in the response form by filling in the circles completely using pencil. 

• The Top 3 Teams by highest cumulative score in the Mock Test will be award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively.
  • 1st Place: RM 300 & 1st Place Certificate
  • 2nd Place: RM 200 & 2nd Place Certificate
  • 3rd Place: RM 100 & 3rd Place Certificate

(All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation)

• Results will be announced on the day of the Mock Test (14 February 2026) as well as presentation of prizes and certificates.
• Individuals without a team will not be eligible for the team awards. 
• In the event of a tie for the Top 3 teams, a tie-breaker question will be provided, and the team that submits the correct answer in the shortest time will be declared the winner. 

• The Top 50 participants by individual performance in the Mock Test will be invited to participate in the Fermat Contest (by the Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing, University of Waterloo, Canada) on 26 February 2026. 
• Participants without a team in the Mock Test are also eligible for the Top 50.
• The names of the Top 50 will be announced on the day of the Mock Test (14 February 2026). 
• If there is a tie for the Top 50, a tie-breaker question will be provided, and the participant(s) who submits the correct answer in the shortest time will be declared as the Top 50. 
• Results for Fermat Contest will be released by The Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing 6-8 weeks from the day of the contest, and MCKL college will then communicate the results to the participants via the WhatsApp group. 
• Participants scoring in the Top 25% will receive a Certificate of Distinction by The University of Waterloo. The remaining participants will receive a Certificate of Participation by The University of Waterloo. The certificates will only be distributed at least one to two months after the results have been released.
