Unveiling Potential for Future Champions
Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL) today successfully hosted its first carnival event at its Georgetown, Penang branch campus in conjunction of its 40th anniversary this year. Themed #MCKLFestForChamps, the carnival engaged youths and high school students, providing them an exciting platform to unleash their potential in sports and leadership. The inaugural ceremony was graced and officiated by YB Daniel Gooi Zi Sen, Mantan ADUN Pengkalan Kota.
Dr. Gerard Boey, Principal of MCKL College (Penang, Pykett Campus) cum Academic Dean highlighted MCKL’s rich heritage and dedicated core values, and its 40-year track record of producing high-achieving students and graduates. He said MCKL’s holistic education cultivates well-rounded individuals who excel academically, participate in co-curricular activities, and assume leadership roles.
“At #MCKLFestForChamps, we highlight the importance of sports in youth development, fostering discipline, determination, and a balanced approach to personal growth. By integrating education and sports, MCKL shapes students’ intellect, health, and determination for lifelong success,” he explained.

The carnival featured diverse and fun activities, including sport games like Captain Ball, Football, and Basketball. There were also food trucks, pop-up bazaars and a colouring contest for young children. Students and parents connected with representatives from over 10 esteemed local and private universities in Malaysia, gaining valuable insights into potential education pathways for their future.
Following the opening ceremony, YB Daniel Gooi Zi Sen was given a campus tour and experienced first-hand the facilities and resources available to MCKL Penang Pykett campus students.
The MCKL Pykett campus, located in a historic 130-year-old building, preserves its rich heritage as a former primary school. Since its launch in July 2022, it has grown steadily, accommodating over 200 students and close to 30 academic and administrative staff. The campus offers a diverse range of programmes, with Cambridge A Level and AUSMAT (Australian Matriculation) as its flagships.
The campus hosted its inaugural Teaching & Learning Symposium in May 2023, bringing together 150 educators and high school students in Kuala Lumpur and Penang. Additionally, MCKL actively participates in service-learning community projects, instilling a lifelong passion to make a positive impact on society and the nation among its students and graduates.
The Pykett Campus offers Pre-U, early childhood education, and IR 4.0 oriented programmes including Cambridge A Level, AUSMAT, diplomas in Early Childhood Education, Information Technology (IoT Focused), Computer Science (Data Science Focused), Digital Business, Digital Marketing, and professional development courses.
