- Can I further my studies in a Local Public University after completing AUSMAT (Western Australian Certificate of Education)?
Yes, MCKL AUSMAT (Western Australian Certificate of Education) students have been admitted to some local public universities such as USM.
- What is the difference between AUSMAT (Western Australian Certificate of Education) and SAM?
WACE (AUSMAT) and SACE (SAM) are both based on the Australian education system which leads to an Australian Year 12 qualification. The AUSMAT (Western Australian Certificate of Education) programme is administered by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority of Western Australia, a statutory authority of the Western Australian Government. AUSMAT (Western Australian Certificate of Education) students are assessed based on 50% internal continuous assessment and 50% external examination. The SAM programme is administered by the SACE Board of South Australia, a statutory authority of the South Australian Government. The assessment mode for this programme is 70% internal continuous assessment and 30% external examination.
- What does internal assessment include?
Internal assessment includes monthly tests, mock exams, assignments and projects.
- Why is the duration of August intake longer?
The August intake is longer than the January intake because the final external exam is held only in November each year. Students coming in for the August intake do not have enough time to prepare for the November final exam within the same year. Hence, they have the privilege to try out different courses from August to November and still be able to change their choice of course in January. The assessments conducted in the first semester are not included in the actual WACE assessment.
