This programme will fully equip students with the theoretical knowledge, teaching pedagogies, practical skills and holistic understanding of young children’s development, learning needs and growth. The programme covers various ECE specialities such as: child development, creativity through music, movement, art and drama, teaching mathematics and sciences to young children, language and literacy, health, safety and nutrition, infant and toddler care and teaching social studies to young children.
Upon completion of this programme, MCKL graduates will be offered other pathways to earn a globally recognised degree either in Ireland or U.K. with just an additional one of year study abroad to support their career goals. Graduates may also seek employment in the ECE field as a qualified practitioner.

Extensive Programme
The subjects offered in this programme are comprehensive and extensive to ensure students are well prepared to work professionally in a variety of professions in the early childhood sector and succeed in it.
Substantial Practicum Exposure
Over the course of the programme, students will complete two practicums. This opens the opportunity for students to translate classroom learning into practice, gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced kindergarten teachers, and learn in a professional working environment.

*MPU: The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) requires all students to take Mata Pelajaran Umum (MPU) (i.e. General Studies) within the duration of their studies. MCKL established a series of subjects that different programs need to implement for all students to meet the Ministry’s requirements. Subjects will differ depending on the institution and the level of degree the student is taking.

Top Up 1-2 Years for Degree Overseas
Students who graduate from MCKL with a Diploma in Early Childhood Education can opt to top up one to two years for a degree in Ireland, United Kingdom or New Zealand through our partner universities.

- What is the average class size?
Class size is around 20-30 students depending on size of cohort. - What is the timetable like?
The earliest class starts at 8am and the latest class will end at 5pm. - When is the deadline to apply?
There is no deadline to apply. However, studentszare encouraged to apply early as registration is on a first-come-first-served basis. - How should I go about if I want to apply for the programme?

Yes, it is compulsory for students to take MPU subjects. - Is there internship opportunity throughout the programme?
Yes, students have two internship opportunities throughout the programme. The first block practice is in a childcare centre (Taska) and the second block practice is in a preschool/ kindergarten (Tadika). - What are the options upon graduation from ECE?
