Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Yayasan Jasa Ann Joo on 20th January 2022, with the ambition of enabling young accountants to further their education with the globally recognised ACCA qualification.

The memorandum was signed by Yayasan Jasa Ann Joo’s Trustee, Dato’ Lim Hong Thye and MCKL’s Chief Executive Officer; Ms Angela Pok during the signing ceremony held at Hilton Hotel, Petaling Jaya. Dato’ Lim Hong Thye is also the Group Managing Director of Ann Joo Resources Berhad. Amongst the goals outlined in the agreement are initiatives to nurture deserving talents in the accounting field through the education provided by MCKL and financial aid provided by Yayasan Jasa Ann Joo’s scholarship aid. The partnership will also provide the scholarship recipient with a career platform under Ann Joo Resources Berhad and its subsidiaries.

The ACCA programme was first introduced in MCKL back in 2014 and has provided educational opportunities to over 25 ACCA affiliates. MCKL is one of the Top 3 Institutions in Kuala Lumpur with a Platinum Status Approved Learning Partner (ALP) of ACCA. Platinum is the most prestigious level of the ALP programme.

“This MoU lays a foundation for deserving talents in the accounting field to venture and use their strong leadership and accounting skills to serve the industry while making valuable changes in society. We have partnered with MCKL as their mission to nurture a community where excellence, in all its forms, is celebrated; and where individuals come alive to use their given ability to make a unique difference in the world echoes the same sentiment that we at Ann Joo Group believe in.” Dato’ Lim Hong Thye said.

“We are glad to be in partnership with an esteemed organisation as Yayasan Jasa Ann Joo. The current economic landscape emerging from the pandemic has left many individuals’ household income affected, causing students to postpone their education or search for secondary income. This partnership will provide education and career changing opportunities for Malaysian accountants.” said Ms Angela Pok, CEO of MCKL.
