MCKL Produces ACCA & ACCA FIA Prize Winner

MCKL ACCA FIA & ACCA students bag Top Global and Malaysian ACCA prizes

Kuala Lumpur, 18th March 2022 – Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL) students from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and ACCA Foundation in Accounting (FIA) programme scored excellence when one world prize winner and one Malaysian prize winner were celebrated in the December 2021 Examinations sitting.

FIA qualification is the steppingstone to the ACCA Qualification and membership of the global body for professional accountants. Employers around the world, seek out ACCA members to lead their businesses to sustainable success, knowing that ACCA members are strategic thinkers with high ethical integrity, strong financial knowledge, and the right business acumen.

From MCKL’s ACCA FIA programme, Ganapathi Murugappan was announced as the World Prize Winner by ranking number one in the world for the FTX (MYS) Foundation in Taxation paper. MCKL’s ACCA student, Ang Guo Weng gained the title as Malaysia Top 3 Affiliates, placing as third place in Malaysia and 16th place worldwide.

“When I received the news of getting the award, I was going through an emotional rollercoaster. However, in the end, I was extremely happy and grateful that I was able to achieve this and will be striving for the next award. The education that I received in MCKL has provided me with insightful knowledge that brought me one step closer towards my career.” Ganapathi Murugappan said.

“I was surprised and happy when I received the news. There is actually no secret as to say from what I achieved from my studies, but just the same old advice to study hard, plan well ahead and no last-minute studying. I had completed my CAT and ACCA studies in MCKL and now I am an ACCA Affiliate who completed all the ACCA papers on the first attempt, MCKL played a significant role in this achievement.” said Ang Guo Weng.

The ACCA programme was first introduced in MCKL back in 2014 and has provided educational opportunities to over 25 ACCA affiliates. MCKL is one of the Top 3 Institutions in Kuala Lumpur with a Platinum Status Approved Learning Partner (ALP) of ACCA. Platinum is the most prestigious level of the ALP programme.
