Samuel Lai Chong Weng, a Western Australian Certificate of Education (AUSMAT) student from MCKL College (Penang, Pykett Campus), has recently made waves by participating in two major swimming competitions.
Event 1: Malaysia Open Swimming Championships 2025
Samuel Lai Chong Weng represented MCKL Pykett Campus at the Malaysia Open Swimming Championships 2025, organised by Malaysia Aquatics (MAS). The competition was held from 24th to 27th April 2025 at the National Aquatic Center, Bukit Jalil Sports City, Kuala Lumpur.
Samuel achieved the following results:
- Bronze Medal – 800m Freestyle
- Bronze Medal – 4x100m Freestyle Relay
Event 2: Varsity Swimming Championship 2025
Samuel Lai Chong Weng represented MCKL Pykett Campus at the Varsity Swimming Championship 2025, held from 10th to 11th May 2025. The competition was organised by Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TARUMT) in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, and took place at the Swimming Pool, Club House, TARUMT KL Main Campus.
Samuel achieved the following results:
• Gold Medal – Men’s 1500m Freestyle
• Gold Medal – Men’s 200m Backstroke
• Silver Medal – Men’s 400m Individual Medley
