MCKL Students Shine at State-Level Health Video Competition


Two students from MCKL Diploma in Digital Business programme, Chan Jolin and Nara Cinta Tjonnadi, have earned Second Place (1st Runner-Up) in the IPT category of the “Sihat Itu Saya” Health Video Competition, held in conjunction with the Penang State celebrations for World Health Day and World Physical Activity Day 2026.

The competition attracted entries from higher education institutions and community participants across the state. Jolin and Nara stood out for their creative approach and effective use of digital storytelling, delivering a compelling health message through engaging short-form video content.

Real-World Learning in Action

The competition formed part of an experiential learning initiative embedded within the Digital Business and Digital Marketing curriculum.

Through this project, students applied practical skills in:

  • Digital storytelling and content creation
  • Social media engagement strategies
  • Mobile video production
  • Strategic communication in digital campaigns

Working within a one-minute format, Jolin and Nara developed a video centred on the theme “Sihat Itu Saya” (“Health is Me”), successfully combining creativity with concise, impactful messaging suited for today’s fast-paced digital platforms.

Strong Teamwork and Academic Guidance

Throughout the process, both students demonstrated strong commitment, professionalism, and teamwork. Their work reflected a solid grasp of health communication principles, along with effective use of video editing tools and visual storytelling techniques.

The project was supported by structured academic mentorship, with guidance provided in concept development, storyboard planning, and production techniques aligned with industry practices. Continuous feedback throughout the process helped refine their work into a polished final submission.

A Reflection of Outcome-Based Education

This achievement highlights the effectiveness of an outcome-based and experiential learning approach within the Digital Business programme. It reinforces the programme’s commitment to developing graduates with strong digital literacy, creativity, collaboration, and applied marketing communication skills.

Beyond the competition, the experience provided valuable exposure to real-world digital campaign development, further strengthening students’ confidence and enhancing their readiness for careers in digital business and marketing.
