Eleven Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL) students were recognized at the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards Malaysia (OCLA) for the June 2024 examination series, held at the Sime Darby Convention Centre on 28th November 2024. Their exceptional achievements spanned Accounting, Business, Law, Further Mathematics, English General Paper, and Mathematics.
Among the awardees was Chan Zi Tong, who excelled in both academics and extracurricular activities. She secured the Top in Malaysia award for Business while also founded Beyond 20, a student-led initiative at MCKL that cultivates a culture of consistent and collaborative community service. Reflecting on her experience, Zi Tong shared that balancing these commitments fostered her growth and self-improvement. “Managing everything required balancing my studies with extracurricular activities. These challenges instilled valuable lessons in resilience and time management. At MCKL, I received the guidance I needed to thrive both academically and personally.”
Another remarkable achiever, Edwen Wong, earned the Top in the World award for AS Level Mathematics and is now pursuing his higher education in Architecture at RWTH Aachen University, Germany. Reflecting on his journey, he stated, “Studying in Germany was always my aspiration. MCKL significantly facilitated my path towards achieving it.”
Likewise, Josiah Kho, who secured a place at the University of Southampton to study Computer Science, achieved the prestigious Top in the World award for A Level Further Mathematics. Looking back, he shared, “There were times when I doubted the challenging path I had chosen, but my parents and lecturers provided unwavering support with their invaluable advice and experiences.”
MCKL has nurtured high achievers since 2013, a legacy reaffirmed by consecutive accolades of Top in the World and Top in Malaysia. These achievements exemplify MCKL’s commitment to empowering students and providing exceptional educational services.
