adtpwebsite-01The American Degree Transfer Program (ADTP) is a credit transfer program that gives students a fast track to American universities. Students can choose courses from a wide variety of fields, ranging from applied sciences to the liberal arts.

Students will complete approximately half of the degree requirements in MCKL, whilst the remainder of their studies will be completed in the US in a university of their choice.

Top Reasons to Enrol for ADTP

  • Smooth and quick pathway from MCKL to selected US colleges and universities
  • Students can select from a wide range of courses before deciding on their major area of study
  • Students are motivated to actively participate in group discussions, presentations, workshops and project work
  • High achievement through continuous coursework, class assessment and examinations
  • Students are nurtured to be well-rounded individuals

Top Reasons to Study in US

  • Top quality academics and education and experience: 28 of the top 50 universities in the world are in the US  (Source: Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2013-14)
  • Opportunities for research, internship, practical training and to participate in university exchange programmes
  • Many major companies and brands in the world are US-based; they actively recruit graduates from top US colleges and universities and fund research
  • Exposure to rich campus environment; studying alongside US and international students of diverse culture

Welcome Message from the Head of ADTP

ADTP is the most flexible degree program that provides a wide range of studies across different disciplines; from physical sciences, life sciences to art, history, literature, philosophy and even religious studies.

The liberal arts studies in the US will better equip our I-generation youths to embrace the challenges in the 21st century. Besides the rigorous intellectual training from academic courses, the opportunities to manage academic autonomy and collective individual freedom are effective ways to prepare them to face 21st century employment.

Availability of Optional Practical Training (OPT) in the education system provides opportunities for graduates to gain industrial experience in the US and widen their network in their respective fields.

ADTP enables students to obtain quality higher education in US colleges and universities at an affordable cost.  There are also scholarships and financial aid offered by US colleges and universities for international students.

“... after speaking to a counsellor in MCKL, I learnt of the feasibility and practicality of studying abroad in America.”

Coming to the US was originally not part of my plan. I thought that education in the US was expensive and irrelevant to the political and socio-economic system in Malaysia. But after speaking to a counsellor in MCKL, I learnt of the feasibility and practicality of studying abroad in America.

The architecture program I am majoring in is very different from what I thought it would be. I am really enjoying it because architecture is so much more than just the design of buildings. I learnt that good architecture requires a comprehensive understanding of politics, economics, social sciences, philosophy, theology, environmental technology and much more …..

Kent State is amongst the most affordable universities that offer an accredited architecture program. Moreover there are a lot of scholarships offered here by the university. The Study Abroad program enabled me to spend a semester in Florence studying architecture; we also went to Rome and Siena for field trips. This is the most amazing experience of studying in Kent State so far.

“I give thanks for my time in MCKL and Messiah College.”

First and foremost, I give thanks for my time in MCKL and Messiah College. The material on Spiritual Leadership in Messiah College has helped me glorify God not only in relationships, but also in my work with others, and also in serving people as well. It has been a real blessing!

I felt that I have benefited greatly in terms of understanding my faith and how man perceives a relationship with God. The great thing about Messiah College is the effort professors make in integrating Truth with academic discipline. The people are nice and friendly as well.

There are many opportunities to serve in many different ministries on campus. I got to work with Alzheimer’s patients for the Psychology course, which is just one of the many outreach programs that Messiah College offers.

I hope this will give others an insight to my life in MCKL and in Messiah College. By God’s grace I am here, and by His grace He will bring me through.

“The liberal arts education in America was the main reason why I applied to a US college ... My time in MCKL helped me prepare for studying abroad …”

The liberal arts education in America was the main reason why I applied to a US college and I am absolutely loving it. I have learnt so much in my time here at Colby-Sawyer College; I’ve taken classes that I never thought I would and fell in love with certain subjects such as Philosophy.

It has been an amazing journey here and due to the small size of the college I know almost everyone! My time in MCKL helped me prepare for studying abroad and the lecturers and staff were very helpful in the whole process. I am really grateful for this God-given opportunity.

“I also greatly benefited from the ... counsellors who helped me step out of my comfort zone and believe in myself.”

I am currently a Nursing student in Kent State University, and I am very blessed to have gotten a scholarship that covers most of my tuition fees and housing expenses. Add that to the income from my on-campus job in the health centre, and the result is financial independence for which I am very thankful!

Looking back, I can say that Methodist College KL was a very important stepping stone for me to be where I am today. Serving in the Student Council gave me the opportunity to hone my leadership skills, vary my experience, and strengthen my interpersonal and communication skills. The community service component helped me discover my passion in serving people and the community.

The staff members in MCKL are not only down-to-earth and approachable; they are dedicated to help each student reach their full potential. The supportive and conducive study environment had helped me and my friends to stay motivated in our studies. I also greatly benefited from the resourceful and knowledgeable counsellors who helped me step out of my comfort zone and believe in myself.
