MCKL partners with Virginia Wesleyan University to offer US scholarships 


Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL), Malaysia and Virginia Wesleyan University (VWU), United States, recently signed and sealed an institutional collaboration agreement as an articulation university for MCKL’s American Degree Transfer Program.  

“This is the beginning of a wonderful and long-lasting relationship between the two tertiary institutions, and we are very pleased to say that the partnership is met with equal enthusiasm to grow to new heights,” said Dr Gerard Boey, Acting Chief Executive Officer and Principal cum Academic Dean of MCKL.

Also present at the ceremony was Dr Stephen Sim, Assistant Vice President for Enrollment – Asia, VWU, who shared that, “VWU’s association with MCKL extends many years and in this time, MCKL has established itself as a great college. It is equally important that both institutions work with common interests, particularly at the core by sharing the same faith, which will only create more opportunities when students make their way to America and meet like-minded people with the same principles.”

The partnership between MCKL and VWU will offer MCKL students in the American Degree Transfer Program transferring to VWU scholarships ranging between 50% to full tuition waiver fee. The full tuition waiver, called the Batten Honors College, is awarded to one outstanding student per VWU academic year. Other benefits in the agreement include student mobility, visiting programmes, student exchanges, and other educational opportunities.  

VWU was established in 1961, its campus a vast 300-acres with 1,600 students and ranks #156-201 out of 210 National Liberal Arts Colleges in the United States.
