Privilege
- Students acquire automatic membership when they register for a course in MCKL. With a valid Student Card, students are allowed access to the library and ICT facilities in the library from the commencement date of their course. Membership expires on the last day of the month when their finals examinations ends.
- Staff members are eligible to use the library materials from the first day of work and membership expires on the last working day in MCKL.

*Overnight loans for Redspot books start at 4.00 PM at weekends. They must be returned on the following working day before 9.00 AM
Renewal
- Library books can be renewed twice.
- Renewal will be denied under these circumstances:
- The item is in the Redspot/Multimedia category
- The item is overdue
- There is an outstanding fine
- The item is being requested by another patron
- The renewal limit has been exceeded
Redspot
- Only one Redspot book may be borrowed at any one time, and the duration of the loan shall be 2 hours
- Overnight borrowing shall be after 4.00 PM during weekdays, and the book must be returned on the following working day before 9.00 AM
- The library has the full authority to recall any Redspot book at any time.
Desk Copy
- Desk copy book(s) can only be borrowed by lecturers
- Each Desk Copy can be borrowed for one semester
- There is no limit to the number of titles that can be borrowed
- Lecturers must return the book(s) borrowed at the end of the semester
- Renewal can be made for each Desk Copy at the beginning of a new semester
- Permanent markings (comments, highlighting, etc.) on the pages are not permitted
- The library has full authority to recall any Desk Copy at any time

Loss / Damage Library Resources
- Borrowers are responsible for ensuring the library resources they borrow are in good condition; otherwise, they will be held responsible and will be charged for the damage.
- Library resources must not be mutilated, defaced or damaged in any manner, including water damage, loosened pages taped to secure the binding (for print items), etc. Do not attempt repairs yourself. Notify the library staff at the Circulation Counter about damaged resources.
- If the resource (item) is lost or damaged, an immediate report should be made to the library staff to enable appropriate actions to be taken.
- Borrowers will be held fully responsible for the Library resources in their possession and are required to pay for the value of the book, overdue charges (if any), plus processing fees of RM20.00 per item if the resources are lost or damaged.
- Students will be suspended from borrowing and library use if lost item payments are outstanding and are not settled within the specified period.
