General Regulations
- Patrons of the Library should be decently attired.
- Bags, helmets, umbrellas, raincoats and packages are not allowed in the library.
- Eating, drinking, littering and smoking in the library are not permitted.
- Silence is to be strictly observed in the library.
- Handphones should be set to silent mode before entering the library.
- Reservation of seats is not permitted.
- Laptops are permitted to be brought into the Library.
- Patrons are advised not to leave any valuable items (such as laptops, handphones, textbooks, wallets, etc.) on the open shelves outside the library.
- Items found left behind in the Library may be claimed at the Library counter.
- Library is not responsible for any damages and loss of personal belongings that are left unattended in the Library or outside the Library.
Membership Regulations
- Patrons must wear their ID upon entering the Library.
- Library membership privileges are not transferable to another person.
- Please report the loss of a membership card to the MCKL Library staff.
Computer Workstation
- Accessing undesirable internet sites, gaming, and downloading, emailing, printing and circulating undesirable materials are strictly prohibited.
- Installing or customising any computer programs on the Library’s computers is also strictly prohibited.
- Reservation of computer terminals is not permitted.
- Library patrons must comply with Copyright laws and licensing agreements when using computers, online services and photocopying facilities. Malaysia is governed by the Copyright Act 1987.
Borrowing / Returning / Renewing
- Each patron is responsible for every borrowed item.
- Patrons must ensure books borrowed are listed correctly in their account before they leave the Circulation Counter.
- Overdue notices are sent by email to the patrons as a reminder. These are courtesy notices only, and the Library will not accept responsibility for undelivered notices regardless of the circumstances. Patrons are reminded that the due date is also stamped on the Date Due slip in the book.
- Patrons must ensure that books returned are correctly checked in upon returning.
- A borrower is responsible for returning the library materials by the due date.
- MCKL staff who have resigned or are on long leave (more than 3 months) must return all materials borrowed from the library on or before the last working day.
- Students who withdraw, discontinue or have completed courses at MCKL must return all borrowed materials to the library. Students who fail to clear any fines or return materials borrowed from the library on completion of their courses will have their admission deposit deducted according to the outstanding fines and book cost due.
Discussion / Meeting Room
TAN SRI RUNME SHAW LIBRARY
- Booking for the discussion room can be done online.
- Booking is on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Booking MUST be made using a college-issued email address. Bookings made without a college-issued email address will be cancelled automatically.
- Maximum time allowed per session is 1 Hour.
- Upon arrival, it is required to present a valid Student ID.
- Discussion rooms maximum limit of 3 – 8 pax ONLY.
- Users must show up within 10 Minutes of their booked time slot, or the booking will be forfeited or cancelled automatically.
- Users may request an extension, provided that booking slots are available. Please approach library staff for assistance.
- Discussion rooms are meant for users to hold discussions and not for private study time. Your consideration for other users is greatly appreciated.
- Water bottles containing unflavored drinks are allowed in the discussion room. Food is strictly NOT allowed in the discussion room.
- Failure to comply with library policies, rules and regulations will be grounds for suspension of meeting room privileges. Users will be directed by library staff to leave the room.
MCKL PYKETT LIBRARY
- Booking for the meeting room can be done online.
- Booking is on a first-come, first-served basis.
- The meeting room is NOT meant for playing games or social activities.
- The meeting room can only accommodate up to 8 people.
- Food and beverages are NOT permitted in the library and meeting room.
- The maximum period of booking is up to 2 hours per day.
- Users may request an extension, provided that booking slots are available. Please approach library staff for assistance.
- Users MUST show up within the first 15 minutes of the booked time slots. If not, the booking will be considered forfeited and may be cancelled.
- Failure to comply with library policies, rules and regulations will be grounds for suspension of meeting room privileges. Users will be directed by library staff to leave the room.
